Bu çalışma, sınıf öğretmenlerinin ilköğretim I. kademedeki Fen Bilgisi derslerini okuturken karşılaştıkları sorunları belirlemek, bu derslerin en etkili şekilde alan öğretmenleri mi yoksa sınıf öğretmenleri tarafından mı işlenebileceğini; her iki durumda ortaya çıkabilecek olumlu ve olumsuz sonuçları incelemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Veriler; 25 sınıf öğretmeni, 27 Fen Bilgisi öğretmeni ve 7 Fen bilimleri öğretim elemanı ile yürütülen yarı-yapılandırılmış mülâkatlarla toplanmıştır. Verilerden, sınıf öğretmenlerinin bir çoğunun, Fen Bilgisi derslerini severek vermedikleri, lâboratuvar uygulamalarını gerçekleştirmede zorluk çektikleri ve özellikle bu dersleri alan öğretmenlerinin vermesinin daha uygun olacağına inandıkları anlaşılmıştır.

This study was carried out to determine classroom teachers\' problems they encounter in science courses in the first phase of primary education and to investigate which group of teachers teach it the most effectively: science teachers or classroom teachers. The positive and negative results of science teaching given by both science teachers and classroom teachers were also investigated. The data were gathered by using semi-structured interviews conducted with 25 classroom teachers, 27 science teachers and 7 science teacher trainers. Based on the data, it concludes that most of the classroom teachers do not give science courses with pleasure, have difficulties implementing laboratory activities and especially believe that it is more convenient that these courses should be taught by science teachers.
