“Frankofon„ ve “Frankofoni„ sözcükleri, ilk kez 1880\'de bir coğrafyacı olan Onésim Reclus\'nün sayesinde sözlüğe girmiştir. Ancak bu sözcüklerin yaygın olarak kullanılması ve benimsenmesi 1962 yılında Tunus Devlet Başkanı Habib Burgiba ve Senegal Devlet Başkanı Léopold Sédar Senghor\'nın kullanmaları sonucunda gerçekleşmiştir. Frankofoni bugün Fransa dışında fransızca konuşulan ülkelerin kültürünün incelenmesine denir. Bu yazıda, farklı sosyal yapıya ve zihniyete sahip olan bu ülkelerin edebiyatları kısaca ele alınmıştır.

The words “Francophone” and “Francophony” were first introduced to vocabulary in 1880 because of geographer Onésim Reclus. However, the wide spread use and acceptance of these words were realised after they have been used by Habib Burgiba, the president of Tunisia and by Léopold Sédar Senghor, the president of Senegal. Today, by the word francophony it is understood the culture of French speaking countries excluding France. In this article, the literature of these countries possessing different social structures and attitudes were examined briefly.
