The Relationship Between Global Competitiveness and Export Performance: The Case of OECD Countries

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between global competitiveness index, basic requirements index, efficiency enhancers index, innovation and sophistication index and export performance for OECD countries between the period of 2006-2019. In the study, heterogeneous panel data analysis was applied by using the Augmented Mean Group (AMG) estimator, which takes into account the cross-sectional dependence and is an effective estimator in the case of non-stationarity. Based on the AMG results, we found that there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between the global competitiveness index, basic requirements index, efficiency enhancers index, innovation and sophistication index and export performance throughout the panel.
