Investigations on the thiamine deficiency in cattle with dietary indigestion
The aim of this study was to examine degree of thiamine deficiency in some dietary indigestion of cattle. Twenty healty cows (Control group) and thirty cows with dietary indigestion (ten with hypoactivity in rumen microflora and fauna (HA group), twenty with rumen acidosis (RA group)) were used. Following clinical examination of all animals used in the study, rumen content and blood samples were taken for laboratory examinations. The concentrations of total protein, pyruvate, L-lactate were determined by using Boehringer diagnosis kits. The concentration of glucose was determined by using O-toluidin method and transketolase enzyme activity and TPP effect were examined by Clausen's method. In control group, the values of total protein, glucose, pyruvate, L-lactate and TPP effect were 7.25 g/dl, 55.05 mg/dl, 0.17 mg/dl, 10.82 mg/dl and 18.95%, respectively. Whereas, these values were 6.74 g/dl, 52.5 mg/dl, 0.26 mg/dl, 11.9 mg/dl and 38.2%, in HA group, and 8.04 g/dl, 70.8 mg/dl, 0.4 mg/dl, 19,5 mg/dl and 46.65% in RA group, respectively. Compared to control animals the values of total protein were decreased (p
