Traditionally the response of a building to a fire is derived from .judging the fire resistance of its individual structural members. The paper here presented deals with the effective width of reinforced concrete T-beams as an integrated part of entire systems in case of fire, a problem which has never been treated up to now neither experimentally nor theoretically, but seems however very important for fire engineering design.
