Ethyleneglycol intoxication in a patient drunk antifreeze: A case report
Ethyleneglycol (EG) poisoning is a very rare type of intoxication in our country. EG belongs to the group of dihydric alcohol, a colourless, odourless, sweet tasting fluid. Intake of EG, either accidentally or suicide attempt, is characterised by severe metabolic acidosis, depression of central nervous system and acute renal failure. We reported here a case with severe metabolic acidosis, coma and acute renal failure due to suicidal intake of EG.
