Sınırsız insan isteklerinin sınırlı kaynaklarla idare edilmesi noktasında üretim, gelir ve refah seviyesinin arttırılması toplumların temel ekonomik amaçlarından birisini oluşturmaktadır. Bilgi ekonomilerinde en önemli faktörlerden biri olan teknoloji değişkeni, bilginin bir üretim faktörü olarak karşımıza çıkmasında ve kaynakların optimal olarak idare edilmesi noktasında önemini artırmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı bilgi ekonomisi perspektifinde teknolojinin rolü ve önemini irdelemektir. Çalışmada 1990:1–2010:4 yıllarını kapsayan dönem içinde Türkiye’de telekomünikasyon yatırım harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme değişkenleri çeşitli yöntemler ile (nedensellik ve eş-bütünleşme gibi) analiz edilmektedir. Elde edilen sonuçlar telekomünikasyon yatırım harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme arasında tek yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisini göstermektedir.

Improvement of the production, income and welfare, is one of the basic economic goals of the societies in order to cope with the unlimited human demands with limited resources. Technology variable, which is one of the most important factors in knowledge economy, is gaining importance for making knowledge a production factor and optimal resource allocation. In this respect, this study aims at analyzing the role ands importance of technology from the perspective of knowledge economy. In the study, the telecommunications expenses and economic growth variables of Turkey between the dates 1990:1-2010:4 are analyzed by various methods (by Granger cointegration models and scale). The results show a uni-directional relationship between the telecommunications investment expenses and economic growth
