Sühreverdi Düşüncesinde "El-İtibarat El-Akliyye": Bilginin Kesinliği Meselesi Üzerine Bir Ön İnceleme

The Mental Concepts in the Suhrawardi Thought: A Pre-Investigation on the Problematic Case the Certainty of Knowledge

This article is on the mental concepts ( al-itibârât al-akliyye) in the philosophy of Suhrawardi. This concept has important place in the ishraqt tradition. The ishraqt philosophers , especially Suhrawardt, criticize the peripatetic philosophy by the aid of this concept. Therefore, we investigated this concept in the Suhrawardi thought. According to Suhrawardt, the mental concepts are the products of the mind. The products of mind have the relatival structure. For Suhrawardi, this situation does not express the epistemological certainty. Therefore, our philosopher proposes the llluminationist knowledge by presence (al-ilm al-hudûrî al-ishrâqî ) to access the epistemological certainty.
