Sağduyu Etiği: Thomas Reid'de Ahlak Duyusu ve Ödev Kavramı

Reid was the major figure in the Scottish Common — sense school of philosophy. Common - sense ethics' refers to the pre - theoretical moral judgements of ordinary people. He sough to turn back the tide of subjektivism and skepticism that he saw in Hume as the logical outcome of the theory of ideas set forth by Descartes. Kant's famous reaction to the philosophers of the Common sense school was a characteristic one. Instead of answering Hume's sceptical challenge, according to Kant, they merely appealed to the Common sense of humankind, without any proper insight into the question. While this may be true of Reid in his more unguarded moments and öf his disciples more generally, the Common sense moral theory was influental not only in Europa but also in the United States.
