Salmonella pathogenicity islands (1-10)

Virulence genes located on pathogenicity islands play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Salmonella enterica infections. Altough the structure, function and distribution of these pathogenicity islands among Salmonella serovars show markedly difference, several common motifs are peresent among Salmonella pathogenicity islands. Currently, identified total 16 Salmonella pathogenicity islands are peresent. In this review, of them all, 10 pathogenicity islands are mentioned.
