Conversion of Traditional Assembly Production System to Line-Seru Model: Seru Production System in Chocolate Production

Since the first production of Ford model cars, many production models have been produced. Every factory that makes traditional assembly production aims to maximize output, minimize costs and operate employees in the most efficient way by establishing the system on movable production lines. Seru production system emerged in Japan in the 90s as one of the newest production systems. Giant Japanese companies such as Canon and Sony have implemented the Seru production system with the aim of product differentiation and giving more direction to the market. Studies on seru production, especially in the Turkish literature, are quite few. In this study, it is aimed to adapt the seru system on a traditional assembly line and maximize the resource utilization rates and the number of outputs. Simulation technique was used by using Arena software on a factory producing chocolate and alternative line-seru assembly scenarios were put forward.
