Club kültürünün DJ, mekân, elektronik müzik, clubbing, event (club etkinlikleri) ve jargon gibi temel unsurlarına değinen bu makale 2004 yılında İzmir'de gerçekleştirilen bir alan araştırmasıdır. Bu çalışma İzmir club scene içinde yer alan organizatör, DJ ve clubber'larla yapılan görüşmeler ve İzmir'de gerçekleştirilen event'lerin gözlemlenmesi sonucunda şekillendi. Diğer şehirlerle karşılaştırıldığında farklı ve sürekli değişen bir yapısı olan İzmir club scene'nin geleceğiyle ilgili kesin bir şeyler söylemek zor olsa da, clubber'ların bir yere ait olma dürtüsünden dolayı ev partilerinin ve yaz aylarında Çeşme gibi İzmir yakınındaki tatil beldelerinde bu olgunun bir süre daha süreceğini tahmin edilmektedir. Belirli bir gruba ait özel dil biçiminde tanımlayabileceğimiz jargon, bu kültürün yapıtaşlarındandır. Bu nedenle metinde geçen İngilizce ya da jargon içinde yer alan özel sözcükler elden geldiğince Türkçe'ye çevrilse de özgün biçimleri aynen bırakılmıştır.

This article reports the findings of a field study about many important elements of clubbing culture like DJ, place, electronic music, clubbing event (clubbing activities) and jargon included in clubbing culture.This study was conducted in zmir in 2004. It was designed based on interviews with DJ s, clubbers, and organizers in zmir club scene as well as observing events carried out in zmir. Although no clear cut conclusions can be reached about the future of zmir clubbing culture, comparing to other cities it is different and continuously changing, It is thought that home parties will go on for a while due to the clubbers drive of belonging somewhere and clubbing culture will also carry on in holiday towns near zmir like Çe me during summer months. The word jargon which we can define as a special language belonging to a group is one of the building blocks of this culture. For this reason, although I translated special words from the jargon and the English words mentioned in the text into Turkish as much as I could, I left the orginal forms untouched.
