An artifical neural network approach for supplier evaluation process: an application in the food sector

The purpose of this study is to propose an artificial neural network model for supplier evaluation process with regards to a wide literature research. The selection process is modeled by means of utilizing an artificial neural network model in order to take into consideration both quantitative and qualitative measures. 19 sub-criteria were set under main criteria Cost, Quality, Delivery, Productions Factors and General Factors for supplier evaluation process in accordance with a detailed literature review and experts’ opinions. Developed artificial neural network model was applied to a large-scale food company included in the first 500 big companies in Turkey. The results were presented, compared with the realized data, and also analyzed.
