Fibromyalji Sendromlu Hastaların Yaşadıkları Psikolojik Sıkıntılar ile Sosyal Destek, Öz Yeterlik ve Yeti Yitimi İlişkisi

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, fibromyalji sendromlu hastaların yaşadıkları psikolojik sıkıntılarile algılanan sosyal destek, öz yeterlik ve yeti yitiminin ilişkilerinin incelenmesidir.Yöntem: Çalışma Bursa Devlet Hastanesi Fizik Tedavi Ünitesi’nde tedavi gören 94 fibromyaljihasta ile yapılmıştır. Hastaların algıladıkları sosyal destek düzeyini belirlemek için ‘Çok BoyutluAlgılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği’, öz yeterlik için ‘Artrite Özgü Öz Yeterlik Ölçeği’, yeti yitimiiçin ‘Oswestry Yetersizlik Formu’, kaygı ve depresyon düzeylerini belirlemek için ise ‘HastaneKaygı ve Depresyon Ölçeği’ (HADS) uygulanmıştır.Bulgular: Fibromyalji sendromlu hastaların kaygı ve depresyon puanları yüksek bulundu.Algılanan sosyal destek (p<0.001) ve öz yeterlik (p<0.001) kaygının; medeni durum (bekarolmak) (p<0.01), algılanan sosyal destek (p<0.001) ve öz yeterlik (p<0.001) ise depresyonunyordayıcıları (predictor) olarak bulundu. Genel psikolojik sıkıntıların (karma kaygı-depresyon)yordayıcıları olarak da algılanan sosyal destek (p<0.001) ve öz yeterlik (p<0.001) bulundu.Sonuç: Fibromyalji hastalarının yaşadıkları kaygı, depresyon gibi psikolojik sıkıntılar hastalarınalgıladığı sosyal destek ve öz yeterlilik ile ilişkili bulunmuştur. Hastaların algıladıkları sosyaldestek ve öz yeterlik düzeyleri artıkça daha düşük düzeyde psikolojik sıkıntılar yaşamaktadırlar.

The Relationship of Social Support, Self-Efficacy, and Disability with Experienced Psychological Distress in Patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Purpose: The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between perceived socialsupport, self-efficacy and disability with psychological distress level of patients withfibromyalgia syndrome.Methods: The sample consisted of 94 fibromyalgia patients receiving treatment from PhysicalMedicine and Rehabilitation Clinic of ‘Bursa State Hospital’. Patients’ perceived social supportwas assessed with ‘Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support’ self-efficacy with ‘TheArthritis Self Efficacy Scale, disability with ‘Oswestry Disability Questionnaire and anxietyand depression level with Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale.Results: Anxiety and depression levels of patients with fibromyalgia syndrome were foundrelatively high. Perceived social support and self efficacy were found as predictors of anxiety,whereas marital status (being single), perceived social support and self-efficacy were found aspredictors of depression. Additionally, self-efficacy and perceived social support were found aspredictors of general psychological distress.Conclusion: Psychological distress like anxiety and depression experienced by fibromyalgiapatients are related with perceived social support and self-efficacy. When patients perceivedhigher levels of social support and self efficacy, they can experience lower level of psychologicaldistress
