Özet:Marmara Bölgesi’nin Güney Marmara Bölümü’nde yer alan yaklaşık 400 km2 yüzölçümündeki Bursa Ovası, uzun bir tarımsal süreç geçirerek, çok önemli bir meyve ve sebze tarımı bölgesi haline gelmiştir. Ancak Türkiye’nin ilk Organize Sanayi Bölgesi’nin Bursa şehrinde kurulmuş oluşu, Balkanlardaki etnik ayrışmanın doğurduğu dış göç hareketi ile Bursa şehrine yönelen iç göçlere bağlı olarak, büyük kısmı Bursa Ovası’na taşan, bir milyonu aşmış bir metropoliten şehir oluşmuştur. Şehrin büyümesi, Bursa Ovası’nın yarısından fazlasının tarımsal amaçlar dışında kullanılışına yol açmıştır. Ayrıca toprak, su ve hava kirliliğine yol açan bir süreç de gerçekleşmiş, ortam ekolojisinde değişme ve bozulmalar meydana gelmiştir. Ovanın korunmasına yönelik  tedbirler alınmadığı taktirde, 2020 yılında prodüktif anlamda bir tarımsal üretim gerçekleşemeyecek, dolayısıyla gelecek nesiller için tarımsal üretim azlığı, beslenme yetersizliği ve çevre bozulması gibi sorunlar kaçınılmaz olacaktır.AbstractBursa Plain, with its acreage of 400 km2, is located in the South Marmara Part of the Marmara Region, having passed through a long agricultural process; it has come to be a significant centre of fruit and vegetable farming. However, this large plain has been inhabited by a growing number of people as a result of the fact that the first Organized Industrial Region of Turkey was established here, that domestic and foreign immigrants tended to come here due to the ethnic conflicts in the Balkans, and that the city of Bursa became a metropolitan city with its population more than one million people. The expansion of the city has caused a large part of the Bursa Plain to be utilized for some purposes other than agriculture and farming . Also this process has led to an increase in the air, water and soil pollution, bringing about some changes and deteriorations in its ecology. Unless same precautions are taken to protect the plain, it will not be possible to talk about an agricultural production by 2020, which will in turn give birth inevitably to such undesirable result as the scarcity of agricultural production, nutritional inadequacy and destruction of the natural balance.
