Türkçede Boş Artgönderim ve Söylem Atlama
Bu çalışmada Türkçe yazılı söylemde boş artgönderimin söylem-edimbilimsel işlevleri incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın bütüncesini 2004-2006 yıllarında yayınlanan 6 biyografi kitabı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma için söylemedimbilimsel bir yaklaşım benimsenmektedir. Boş artgönderimin söylemedimbilimsel işlevini açıklamak üzere, söylemde bir önermenin kendinden hemen önceki önermeye değil de söylemde üretilmiş daha önceki bir önermeye bağlanması durumu olan söylem atlama yapıları üzerine odaklanılmaktadır. Başka bir deyişle, çalışmamızda bir göndergeye yapılan en son gönderimin hemen bir önceki önermede değil de kendinden daha önce gelen bir önermede oluştuğu söylem atlama yapılarında görülen boş artgönderim kullanımları ele alınmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın kuramsal çerçevesini, söylemin retorik ilişkiler yolu ile birbirlerine bağlanan söylem bölütlerinden oluştuğu ve aşamalı bir şekilde yapılandırıldığı görüşünü temel alan Bölütlenmiş Söylem Temsilleştirme Kuramı (BSTK) (Asher, 1993; Asher ve Lascarides, 2003) oluşturmaktadır. Söylem atlama yapılarının ortaya çıkarılabilmesi amacıyla bütüncedeki metinler söylem bölütlerine ayrılarak söylem bölütleri arasındaki retorik ilişkiler belirlenmiştir. Yapılan çözümlemeler sonucunda, bu ilişkilerin söylemde boş artgönderim kullanımını etkilediği ve boş artgönderimlerin bu ilişkiler yoluyla söylemin güncellenmesinde önvarsayımları tetikleyerek söylem bağdaşıklığının güçlendirilmesine katkıda bulunduğu gözlenmiştir. Dolayısıyla, çalışmamızın başında ortaya koyduğumuz varsayımlar bütünce çözümlemesi sonucu elde edilen bulgular tarafından doğrulanmıştır.
Turkish Zero Anaphora and Discourse Pop
This study investigates the discourse-pragmatic functions of zero anaphora as anaphoric patterns for the third-person human referents in Turkish written discourse. The corpus consists of 6 biography books published in the years between 2004-2006. A discourse-pragmatic approach is adopted in an effort to explain the discourse functions of zero anaphora with references to discourse pops that occur when an earlier segment is resumed with a later segment in discourse. The theoretical framework of the present study is Segmented Discourse Representation Theory (SDRT) which states that the meaning of discourse depends upon and interacts with its rhetorical structure (Asher, 1993; Asher & Lascarides, 2003). According to SDRT, a proper analysis of discourse anaphora requires an account which holds on the claim that discourse content depends on a discourse structure consisting of rhetorical relations that link the utterances together. Therefore the rhetorical structure analysis was carried out in order to explore the relation between the use of zero anaphora and the rhetorical structure of discourse. The findings obtained from the analysis confirm that the use of zero anaphora enables the rhetorical relations to update the discourse and maximize the discourse coherence.
