Bu yazı, Osman Fikri Sertkaya'nın 1993'te yayınlanan "Einige neue Lesungen und Interpretationsvorschläge zur Legende von Oghuz Kaghan" başlıklı makalesinin çevirisidir. Makalede Sertkaya, Oğuz Kağan Destanı’nın Türkçe Uygur harfli tek yazması üzerine yapılan çalışmaları değerlendirir, yeni okuma ve yorumlama önerileri sunar. İnceleme bölümünde ilk olarak birinci dizede, beşinci ve 44. satırda altıncı pozisyonda yer alan kelimeye düzeltme önerisi sunarak transliterasyonunu ʾṄKQ̈W’, çeviri yazısını an͡gku olarak verir. Daha sonra anlamını değerlendirerek Türkçede çok yaygın kullanılan yangku > yankı “yankı” kelimesiyle ilişkisini açıklar. Eksik yazım sorunlarıyla ilgili, metnin 7. dizesini değerlendiren Sertkaya, bu dizenin farklı okunuşlarını vererek ʾWDNDWM transliterasyonunu ve öt(ün)ndüm çeviri yazısını tasarladığını belirtir. Ayrıca makalede hala okunuşu ve anlamı belirsiz kelimelerin bulunduğuna dikkat çeker.

This article is a translation of Osman Fikri Sertkaya's article titled "Einige neue Lesungen und Interpretationsvorschläge zur Legende von Oghuz Kaghan" published in 1993. In the article, Sertkaya evaluates the studies on the Oguz Kagan Epic's single Turkish Uyghur script, and shares new reading and interpretation suggestions. In the analysis, he first proposes a correction to the word in the first line, fifth and sixth position in the 44th line, giving its transliteration as ʾṄKQ̈W' and the transcription as an͡gku. He then evaluates its meaning and explains its relationship with the very common Turkish word yangku > yankı “echo”. Evaluating the 7th verse of the text regarding the missing spelling problems, Sertkaya states that he provided the ʾWDNDWM transliteration and the öt(ün)ndüm transcription by giving different readings of this line. He also points out that there are still ambiguous words in the article.
