Çalışmada sunulan olguda sığır kronik seyirli bir solunum sistemi problemi şikayeti ile Veteriner İç Hastalıkları Kliniğine getirilmiş olup bu hayvana veteriner hekimlerce daha önce pneumoni teşhisi konulmuş ve antibiyotik uygulamaları ile sağaltılmaya çalışılmıştır. Kliniğimizde yapılan klinik inceleme ve radyografi sonucunda kist hydatid’den şüphelenilmiş ve sağaltım şansı olmadığı için daha sonra hayvan kesime sevk edilmiştir. Yapılan makroskopik inceleme sonucunda akciğerlerde ve karaciğerde çok yoğun bir şekilde kist hydatid’e rastlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda kist hydatid’in kronik seyirli solunum sistemi bozuklarına neden olabileceği ve sahada çalışan veteriner hekimlerce dikkate alınması gerektiği vurgulanmıştır.

In this case, a cow was admitted to the Clinic of Veterinary Internal Medicine with complain of chronic respiratory disorders. The cow was diagnosed as pneumonia and treated with antibiotics before admitting the clinic by veterinary practitioners. It was suspected of having hydatid cysts in lungs after clinical and radiographic examination. Respiratory disorders were so severe and the cow was then sent to abattoir. In macroscopic examination several cysts were detected in lung and liver supporting the diagnosis as hydatid cysts. In conclusion, hydatid cysts may also be the causative agent of chronic respiratory disorders which should be kept in mind by the practitioners in such a case.
