Akut faz yanıta cevap olarak karaciğer tarafından sentezlenen akut faz proteinlerinin (AFP) birçok fonksiyon ve özelliği belirlenmiştir. İnsan hekimliğinde AFP’lerin rutin olarak diagnostik ve prognostik amaçlı kullanılmalarına rağmen, bu proteinler veteriner sahada henüz yeterli düzeyde çalışılmamış ve klinik kullanıma sunulamamıştır. Bu derlemenin amacı AFP’ler hakkında güncel bilgiler sunarak bu proteinlerin hayvan türleri için öneminin daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlamak ve veteriner hekimlikteki kullanım alanlarına dikkat çekmektir.

In response to acute phase response it has been identified many functions and features of acute phase proteins (AFP) synthesized by the liver. Despite the routine use of AFP for the diagnostic and prognostic purposes in human medicine these proteins are still not widely used in veterinary medicine and clinical use also very limited. The purpose of this review to provide the latest information about the AFP's in animal species consequently to provide a better understanding and importance of these proteins and draw attention to areas for using in veterinary medicine.
