Leather Wastes and Areas of Evolations

Leather making is conversion process that animal skins or hides are subjected to sequence of complex chemical reactions and mechanical treatments in order to give them new properties geared to the intended application. During mechanical processes generates solid waste such as trimmings, fleshings, shavings and dust. Disposing or storing these wastes are costly and environmentally undesirable. It is important to find efficient uses for these materials in terms of both protecting the environment and preventing loss of resources. Solid wastes generated from leather production include moisture, salt, lime, chromium, sulphide, fats, hairs and proteins. Most of these wastes carry high potential of reutilization. In this paper, it was given information about types of solid wastes from leather production and areas of evolations.
