DİŞ HEKİMLİĞİ FAKÜLTESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN PROTETİK DİŞ TEDAVİSİ ANABİLİM DALINDA UZMANLAŞMA KONUSUNDAKİ MOTİVASYONLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Atatürk Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesindeki öğrencilerin diş hekimliği hakkındaki düşüncelerini, kariyer tercihlerini etkileyen faktörleri ve bu konudaki motivasyonları arttırıcı yöntemleri ortaya koymak amacıyla Protetik Diş Tedavisi anabilim dalında uzmanlaşma konusundaki görüşlerini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Atatürk Üniversitesi Diş hekimliği Fakültesinde eğitim görmekte olan öğrencilere uygulanmak üzere 10 soruluk bir anket hazırlandı. Bu anket 105, 4. Sınıf öğrencisi ve 110, 5. Sınıf öğrencisi olmak üzere toplam 215 öğrenciye uygulandı. Veriler Ki-kare testi istatistiksel olarak analiz edildi. Bulgular: 2016-2017 yılında eğitim görmekte olan 4. Sınıf ve 5. Sınıf öğrencilerinden 215’i bu ankete katılmıştır. 215 katılımcıdan 110’u bayan, 105’i erkektir. Ayrıca katılımcıların 105’i 4. Sınıf öğrencisi 110’u 5. Sınıf öğrencisidir. Ankete katılanların %75,3 Protetik Diş Tedavisi bölümü ilk olarak preklinik döneminde tanıdığını belirtti. Katılımcıların %60,5’lik kısmı ise Protetik Diş Tedavisi bölümünü tanıtıcı dönemde en cok klinik deneyimlerden etkilendiğini bildirdi. Ayrıca öğrenciler Protetik Diş Tedavisi bölümüne gelecekte duyulacak ihtiyaç konusunda %30,2 çoğunlukla olumlu görüş bildirdi. Sonuç: Çalışma sonuçlarımıza göre öğrencilerin diş hekimliği ile ilgili ilk algılarının ilk olarak preklinik dönemlerinde oluşmaya başladığı ve yaşadıkları klinik deneyimler, öğretim üyelerinin etkisi gibi faktörlerin kariyer seçimlerinde etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Prostodonti, Protetik Diş Tedavisi, Diş Hekimliğinde Uzmanlık Sınavı AN EVALUATION OF DENTAL STUDENTS’ MOTIVATIONS TO SPECIALIZE IN PROSTHODONTICS ABSTRACT Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of the students at Faculty of Dentistry about dentistry, the factors affecting their career choices, and the views regarding specializing in prosthodontics to provide ways to increase their motivation in this area. Materials and Methods: A 10-question survey was prepared and given to the students at Atatürk University Faculty of Dentistry. 105 fourth and 110 fifth grade students participated in the survey. The answers were statistically analyzed with Chi Square test. Results: 215 of the fourth and fifth grade students who were studying in 2016-2017 academic year participated in this survey. 110 of them were female and 105 of them were male. 105 of the participants were fourth grade students and 110 of them were 5th grade students. 75.3% of the respondents stated that they were first exposed to Prosthodontics in the preclinical period. 60.5% of the participants reported that they were most affected by the clinical experiences during the introduction period of Prosthodontics. In addition, students report a positive opinion of 30.2% about the future need for the Prosthodontics. Conclusion: According to our study results, the first perceptions of students about dentistry started to occur in their preclinical period; their clinical experiences and the influence of the faculty members have been found to be effective in their career choices.
