Anaplastic and sarcomatoid carcinoma of the small intestine: A rare entity and problems in nomenclature
Small intestinal tumors account for less than 2% of gastrointestinal malignancies. Sarcomatoid carcinoma is an unusual tumor that can occur in the upper aerodigestive tract, stomach, uterus, kidney, gall-bladder, and ampulla of Vater. It is rarely reported in the small intestine. In this report, an anaplastic and sarcomatoid carcinoma of the small intestine in a 70-year-old woman is presented and the problems in nomenclature are discussed.
