Bu araştırmada ilköğretim okullarındaki öğretmen ve öğrencilerdeki depresyon belirtilerinin sosyo demografik özellikler ve okul ortamına göre değişip değişmediği araştırılmıştır Örneklem 249’u öğretmen 288’i öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 537 kişiden oluşmuştur Öğretmenlerdeki depresyonu ölçmek için ’Beck Depresyon Envanteri’ öğrencilerdeki depresyonu belirlemek için de ’Çocuklar İçin Depresyon Ölçeği’ kullanılmıştır Sosyo demografik özellikler ile okul ortamına yönelik durumu belirlemek için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen soru formundan yararlanılmıştır Araştırma sonuçları öğretmen ve öğrencilerdeki depresyonun oluşumunda demografik özelliklerden çok yaşamsal ailede bir hastanın olması sınıfta kalma kendisinin hasta olması vb ve okul ortamı özelliklerinin daha etkili olduğunu ortaya koymuştur

: AN INVESTIGATION OF DEPRESSION SYMPTOMS OF TEACHERS AND PUPILS IN ELEMENTARY IN SCHOOLS The purpose of the study is to find out whether depression symptoms of teachers and pupils in elementary schools differentiate depending on socio demographic features and school environment The participants are 249 teachers and 288 pupils The instrument used for data collection are ‘ Beck Depression Inventory’ for teachers and ‘Children’s Depression Inventory’ for pupils In addition a questionnaire has been given to find out the circumstances about socio demographic features and school environment The results drawn from the study show that the underlying reasons of depression arise from the life conditions working atmosphere and school environment rather than the socio demographic features
