Effects of process parameters on the carbon profiles of gas carburized AISI 8620 steel

Karbürleme, endüstride geniş çapta uygulanan yüzey sertleştirme metodudur. Parçaları karbürlemenin amacı yüzeyde yüksek sertlik ve yüksek mukavemet ile çekirdekte tokluk elde etmektir. Gaz karbürlenmiş parçalar, çoğunlukla otomobillerde, traktörlerde ve takım tezgâhlarında, vb. kullanılmaktadır. Bu makale, endüstriyel uygulamalarda elde edilen karbürlemenin sonuçlarını tanımlamaktadır. Gaz karbürlenmiş AISI 8620 çeliğinin, karbon profiline, zaman ve fırın atmosferi gibi proses parametrelerinin etkileri araştırılmıştır. Doğrudan sertleştirilmiş test numunelerinin yüzey sertliği ve yüzey sertliğinin yüzey karbon içeriği ile ilişkisi saptanmıştır. Mikro-sertlik testi, etkin sertlik derinliğini saptamak için yapılmıştır.

Gaz karbürlenmiş AISI 8620 çeliğinin karbon profiline proses parametrelerinin etkisi

Carburizing has been widely used surface hardening method in the industry. The aim of carburizing parts is to obtain high hardness and strength at the surface and toughness at the core. Gas carburized parts are mostly used in automobiles, tractors and tools machines, etc. This paper describes the results of carburizing achieved in the industrial applications. The effects of process parameters such as time and furnace atmosphere on the carbon profiles of gas carburized AISI 8620 steel are investigated. Surface hardness of directly hardened test specimens and its relation to the surface carbon content have been determined. Micro-hardness tests were carried out to determine the effective hardness depth.
