Kuşeyrî, Eş’ari kelam anlayışını benimsemiş ve bu ekolün hararetli bir savunucusu olmuştur. Tasavvuf geleneğinin Ehl-i Sünnet çizgisine bağlı olarak sistemleşmesine önemli katkıları olan Kuşeyrî hem bir Sufî olarak tasavvuf hakkında detaylı bilgi ve görüşler sunduğu gibi hem de Ehl-i Sünnet kelam ekollerinden Eş’arilik hakkında yaptığı çalışmalarla bu mezhebin görüş ve düşüncelerinin bilinmesine ve yayılmasına olumlu yönde katkı vermiştir. Kuşeyrî’nin itikad risaleleri yazmadaki amacı doğru inanç ve salih amel birlikteliğini vurgulamaktır. O bu açıdan Kur’an’a dayanan sağlam bir itikadın kaçınılmaz olduğuna sıklıkla değinir. Kuşeyrî’nin bu konudaki hassasiyeti tasavvuf ve kelam ilimleri arasında olması gereken sıkı diyaloga örneklik teşkil etmektedir.
