Reusability of Treated Wastewater in Gazania Cultivation
Industrial developments, rapid population growth and migration have caused rise in the amount of wastewater. Polluting fresh water resources, the reduction of the resources and drought have increased need fresh water need. All these factors have made effective use of fresh water resources compulsory. Treated wastewater can be reused in industrial, agricultural, forest and landscape areas. This study was conducted to determine reusability of treated wastewater in Gazania cultivation from April to October 2015. The treated wastewater used in the study was obtained from The Treatment Plant of The City of Kepez, Çanakkale. The plants of Gazania were irrigated with treated wastewater or tap water alone once a week. The experiment was set up according to randomized plot design with 3 replications. Four Gazania were planted in each replication (polyethylene pot).Variance analysis and Pearson correlation test were applied to the data obtained from the experiment. The results showed that treated wastewater is suitable for irrigation of Gazania cultivation. Plant length, flower number, root length, root weight and upper part weight of plant irrigated with treated wastewater was significantly increased in relation to the tap water plots. Irrigation treatments did not result in significant differences in plant diameter, leaf length, flower diameter and flower stem length
