Combining Vaser® Ultrasonic Fat Removal Surgery with Intraoperative Renuvion® Radiofrequency Application

Objective Liposuction is not a weight-loss method, but it is used to correct body contour problems. On the other hand, not everybody with contour deformity is a good candidate for this operation. An important contraindication of liposuction is loose skin. Although third-generation ultrasound devices used frequently in the last decade produce some skin contraction due to superficial liposuction, many patients are still not considered ideal candidates. Devices which stimulate fibroseptal network with thermal energy could be an alternative method. Materials and Methods: Seven women and 3 men with loose skin who were not ideal candidates for liposuction were included in this study. All of them received ultrasonic liposuction followed by intraoperative subcutaneous radiofrequency application to stimulate skin contraction. Patients were controlled after the operation, and their results were compared with photographs, and patients’ satisfaction was assessed. Results: In all patients, immediate skin contraction was seen during the procedure, and it increased for 3 months after the surgery. As the skin elasticity is subjective, the author compared the preoperative and postoperative photographs of the patients to evaluate the amount of skin contraction. Besides, the self-evaluation questionnaires of the patients were assessed. 278 Conclusion: Ultrasound and Radiofrequency combination, called technologic liposuction, seems promising in patients with loose skin who are bad candidates for liposuction operation.
