PİSME SICAKLIĞININ TUĞLANIN BAZI FİZİKSEL ÖZELLİKLERİNE ETKİLERİ - THE EFFECTS OF BURNING TEMPERATURE ON SOME PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MASONRY
THE EFFECTS OF BURNING TEMPERATURE ON SOMEPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MASONRYThe clays are fine grained (<0,002 mm) and properties of consistency differ due to water content. However, the clays can change shape permanently and strength of the clays increases with high temperature.Due to these reasons, the clay has been in great request for structure and other industry branches since manyyears. In this study, the thirty three masonry samples were produced with the clay samples obtained fromclay pits of Omerli brook in Turgutlu region. The masonries were burnt from 200 °C to 1200 °C andsubjected to water absorption, mean weight loss and compression strength tests. As a result of these tests, itwas observed that compression strengths and mean weight losses of masonries increased at hightemperatures. Although the water absorption rate of masonries increased until 700 oC, it decreased over 700oC.
