Piyasa süreci teorisi, Avusturya İktisat Okulu geleneğinin takipçileri tarafından, somut piyasaları açıklayabilmek amacıyla neo-klasik fiyat teorisine alternatif olarak geliştirilmiştir. Denge kavramına yoğunlaşan neo-klasik analizin tersine piyasa süreci teorisi, dengesizliği ve dengeye yönelimi incelemeye çalışır. Bunu yaparken, neo-klasik iktisadın fiyat teorisinde görmezden gelinen kısıtlı bilgi, zamanın getirdiği belirsizlik ve piyasada oluşan belirsizlikleri gidermede girişimciliğin rolü Israel Kirzner’ın analizinin temellerini oluşturur. Çalışmada Kirzner’ın rekabet ve girişimcilik teorisi, Mises ve Hayek’in katkılarıyla birlikte ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma, bu yönüyle Kirzner’ın piyasa süreci teorisine bir giriş niteliği taşımaktadır.

Market process theory is designed by the followers of Austrian School tradition as an alternative to neo-classic price theory in order to explain perceptible markets. Contrary to neo-classic economy which focuses on the concept of equilibrium, market process theory seeks to explore unequilibrium and direction to equilibrium. While doing so, the role of enterprenuer in dealing with limited information which is not taken into consideration in the price theory of neo-classice conomy, uncertaintybecause of time and uncertainty which occurs in market underpins IsraelKirzner's analyses. In the study, Kirzner's competition and entrepreneurship theory is discussed with the contributions of Misesand Hayek. The study constitutes an introduction to market process theory of Kirzner.
