The Effect Of Body Mass Index On Pregnancy And Neonatal Results

Objectie: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effct of Body Mass Index in non-diabeti pregnant women on maternal and fetal outcomes. Method: Between January 2016- December 2017, 360 pregnant women who were delivered in the term in our clinic and whose records were fully accessible were included in the study. The study groups were divided into two as < 30 and ≥ 30 according to BMI. Pregnant women who had complicatins such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension and pregnant women under 37 weeks of gestatin were excluded from the study. Statitial analysis was performed using the Statitial Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Inc; Chicago, IL, USA) version 20.0 softare. Results: The mean age of the patints included in the study was 28.24 ± 5.74, their average BMI was 30.49 ± 4.85 and the mean gestatinal week according to the last menstrual period was 38.39 ± 2.22. A statitially signifiant diffrence was found between obese and non-obese groups in terms of the macrosomic fetus, twin pregnancy and cesarean rates (p = 0.007, p = 0.041, p = 0.046, respectiely). Conclusions: In our study, it was found that obesity increased cesarean rates in non-diabeti pregnant women, decreased the pH values in newborn and increased the incidence of macrosomia
