The article gives ' information about the manufacturing methods and properties of semivîtreous, vitreous and porcelain tableware and whiteware. Sources and chemical properties of the, raw materials used for this purpouse are indicated. Reserves and geographic distribution af such materials in Turkey are stated. Also the results of tests conducted at the M. T. A. laboratories pertinent of this subject are explained. The activities of M. T. A. Concerning the jeolojic and chemical studies are emphasized. The importance of these raw materials in the rapidly growing ceramics industry in Turkey and their economic aspects are explained.
