Bu yazıda, metallerin ve alaşımların önemli mekanik özelliklerinden olan «akma sınırı» İle «akma sınırı uzaması» açıklanmış, ilgili tarifler verilmiş ve akma olayının dislokasyon teorisiyle İzahı yapılmıştır, özellikle, akma sınırı uzamasının literatürde farklı değerler gösterdiği belirtilerek, bu farklılığın izahına çalışılmıştır.

In this article the «yield point» and the «yield point elongation», which are two important mechanical properties of metals and alloys, are explained; some pertinent definitions are given, and the yield point phenomenon is explained by dislocation theory. It has been pointed out that the «yield point elongation» indicates different values in the literature and an attempt has been made to clear out the discrepancies.
