Gençlerin Ahşap Hakkındaki Algıları

Bu yazı, 4-8 Haziran 2017'de Belçika'nın Ghent kentinde düzenlenen 48. IRG Ahşap Koruma Bilimi Konferansı'nda IRG/WP17-40777 atıf etiketi ve "Young People’s Perceptions about Wood" başlığıyla İngilizce sunulan bildirinin, Türkçe olarak değerlendirilmek suretiyle yeniden düzenlenmiş ve gözden geçirilmiş halidir. Toplumun bir üyesi olan gençlerin ahşabı nasıl düşündükleri hakkında bir fikir edinebilmek ve ahşaba dair görüşlerini anlayabilmek amacını güden bu araştırma, bir üniversitede çeşitli lisans programlarında okumakta olan öğrencilerin hazırladıkları ahşap temalı dönem ödevleri mahiyetinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çerçevede; bu makale, Güz ve Bahar yarıyılları ile yaz okullarını kapsayan üç yıllık süreçte "Kültürlerarası Etkileşimde Ahşabın Önemi" seçmeli dersini yüklenen yükseköğrenim öğrencilerinin, ahşap konusunda kendi kişisel görüşlerini içeren dönem ödevlerinin içerik çözümlemesi yapılarak değerlendirildiği nitel bir araştırmadır. Öğrencilerin dönem ödevi metinleri, esas olarak "Ahşap …" sözcüğü ile başlayan cümleler dahilinde, ahşap hakkında yapılan özgün tanımlara ve bu tanımların içerdiği kelime sayısına göre değerlendirilmiştir. Bu mahiyette, içerik olarak ve sözcük dizilişi itibariyle birbiriyle özdeş olanlar çıkarıldıktan sonra, 446 dönem ödevi kapsamında toplam 1478 ahşap tanımı derlenmiş olup bu tanımlara ilişkin içerik çözümlemesi sonuçları, gençlerin ahşap hakkında çok çeşitli bakış açılarının bulunduğunu ortaya koymuştur.

Young People’s Perceptions About Wood

This paper was presented in English as a subjective talk delivered in the IRG 48th Scientific Conference on Wood Protection held on 4-8 June 2017, Ghent (Belgium) by the full text, titled “Young People’s Perceptions about Wood” with a citation tag IRG/WP17-40777, and the information in the previous text was rearranged and evaluated in Turkish. The aim of this research is to gain insight into how students from the various undergraduate programs at a university think about wood as the full members of society with a focus on understanding young people’s opinions by asking to write a short essay as a term paper on wood. This article is a subjective qualitative research by making content analysis based on the evaluation of the term papers of the higher education students who have taken the elective course “Importance of Wood in Intercultural Interaction” in fall and spring semesters and summer schools in three years period. Students’ essays were evaluated and analysed on the extent to which they contained the pure definitions about wood in point of the number of words essentially starting with "Wood …". In all, there were a total of 1478 definitions that came from 446 essays after the elimination of identical ones, and the results showed that there were a wide variety of different viewpoints on the same subject
