Sağlıklı Beslenmede Avokadonun Yeri

Avokado (Persea americana), kökeni Meksika'ya dayanan tropikal bir meyvedir. Tekli doymamış yağ asitleri, E ve C vitaminleri, potasyum ve ?-karotenden zengin olan avokado, besin ögesi ve fitokimyasal içeriği sayesinde, plazma lipit profilinin düzenlenmesinde, vücut ağırlık kontrolünün sağlanmasında, bazı kanser türlerine karşı koruyuculuk oluşturulmasında ve yaşlanmaya bağlı deoksiribonükleik asit (DNA) hasarlarının azaltılmasında rol oynayabilmektedir. Lipit profili üzerindeki etkisini, plazma düşük yoğunluklu lipoprotein (LDL) düzeyinin düşmesi ve yüksek yoğunluklu lipoprotein (HDL) düzeyinin yükselmesi ile sağlamaktadır. Bu derleme yazıda, avokadonun besin bileşimi ve sağlık üzerine olası etkileri tartışılmıştır

The Role of Avocado in a Healthy Diet

Avocado (Persea americana) is a tropical fruit, originated from Mexico. Due to its high contents of monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins E and C, potassium and β-carotene, avocado consumption has a potential protective role in improved plasma lipid profile, maintenance of healthy body weight, protection against different types of cancer and reduced deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage linked to aging. Avocado improves lipid profile by decreasing the low density lipoprotein (LDL) and increasing the high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels.
