Allos (öteki) ile agoreuo’yu (konuşmayı) buluşturan allegoria (alegori) kavramını “öteki konuşma” olarak değerlendirebiliriz. Konuşmada öteki olan, yani allos, toplu halde söylenenin, yani agoreuo’nun dışında olduğu için ötekidir. Bu anlamda “öteki” olan, ilk bakışta dışarıda bırakılmış olanı imliyor gibi görünse de, aslında her alegorik bütün, okurun metnin gövdesinden dışarı çıkıp tekrar içeri girmesine, yani aynı metne bir de ötekinin konuşmasıyla bakabilmesine izin veren bir biçim olarak da değerlendirilebilir. Dolayısıyla bir alegori bütünü sayılan her metaforik gösterge dizisini, yazar tarafından metne yerleştirilmiş olan bilinçdışı bir oluk, metnin dışarısıyla içerisini birbirine bağlayan sembolik bir kanal olarak da değerlendirebiliriz. Her metaforun böyle bir alan açtığı söylenebilecek olsa da, özellikle mimarlık metaforları, söz konusu alegorik geçitleri metinlerin katı duvarları arasındaki kapılar ya da pencereler olarak yorumlamamızı kolaylaştıracak biçimleri de karşımıza çıkarmaktadır. Bu yazıda da, Descartes’ın Yöntem Üzeine Konuşma’sına, filozofun kendisi tarafından metne yerleştirilmiş olan bu pencere ve kapılarından sızmayı deneyeceğiz. Bu amaç doğrultusunda ilkin, filozofa bir mimara yaklaşır gibi yaklaşabilmek adına, her şeyden önce Descartes’ı çoklu mekânların üreticisi olarak yeniden keşfedeceğiz. Dolayısıyla Descartes’ın düşüncesinde kurulan “içeri”yi, ardından da bizi “içeri”den “dışarı”ya bağlayacak kanalları ve son olarak da yine bizzat filozofun inşa ettiği “dışarı”yı keşfedeceğiz.

We can interpret the concept of allegoria (allegory), which brings together allos (other) and agoreuo (speech), as “other speech”. The other in the speech that is allos, is the “other” because it falls outside what is said collectively, in other words; agoreuo. In this sense, the other might seem as the signifier of what is left outside, but we can also see that every allegory as a whole lets the reader gain multiple perspectives on the script; inside and outside through the words of the “other”. And for this reason, every metaphorical sign that constitues as an allegory can be considered as an unconscious gutter etched in the script by the author, as a symbollic canal that connects the outside and the inside. Though we can say that every metaphor is able to provide such connection, metaphors on architecture especially can help us interpret said allegorical gutters as windows and doors between the concrete walls of the text. In this essay, we will try to penetrate Descartes’ Discourse on Method through these windows and doors of architectural metaphors carved into script by the philospoher himself. In accordance with this purpose, first we will re-discover Descartes as the constructer of multiple spaces, in order to see him as an architect. We will explore the “inside” established in Descartes’ thought, then we will find the gutters that will connect us from said “inside” to the “outside”, and eventually the “outside” constructed by philosopher himself.
