Fatty Acid Composition of Phospholipid, Diacylglycerol, Triacylglycerol, and Total Lipid of Freshwater Snail Radix peregra (Müller, 1774)

Quantitative and qualitative fatty acid composition of phospholipid, diacylglycerol, triacylglycerol and total lipid of freshwater snail Radix peregra, collected from Sultanköy village (Mardin) in June 2009, were investigated. Whole body lipids of the snail were fractionated by thin layer chromatography. The fatty acid compositions of phospholipid, diacylglycerol, triacylglycerol and total lipid of the snail were analyzed by using capillary gas chromatography (GC). In the percentages, C16:0 (20.98% - 25.68%), C18:1ω9 (14.08% - 18.41%) and C18:2ω6 (8.27% - 14.28%) acids were the most abundant components. The percentages of C20:4ω6 (9.05%) and C20:5ω3 (8.48%) acids, precursors of eicosanoids, were defined higher in the phospholipid fraction. The highest proportion of total PUFA was found in phospholipid; the highest proportion of total MUFA and total SFA were found in diacylglycerol and triacylglycerol fractions. Quantitative and qualitative content of diacylglycerol and triacylglycerol fractions of the snail were similar each other.
