Batman’ın mevcut katı atık alanı kentin güneydoğu kesiminde bulunmaktadır. İl merkezinde toplanan evsel, endüstriyel ve diğer atıklar bu alana depolanmaktadır. Bu alanda vahşi depolama yönteminin yapılması nedeniyle her türlü iklimsel ve yüzeysel etkiye açıktır. Ayrıca içerisinde bulunduğu hidrolojik havza özelliği nedeniyle katı atık alanı yağış ve yüzey sularının akış yönünde yer almaktadır. Bu çalışma ile bu alandan kaynaklı çevresel faktörlerin belirlenmesi ve etkilerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yeraltı suyundan yapılan örneklemeler ile diğer incelemelerin sonucunda ortaya çıkan çevresel etkiler ortaya konulmuş ve gerekli öneriler yapılmıştır.

Solid waste landfill site used in Batman Province takes place in the south-eastern part of the city. Domestic, industrial and other wastes collected from the city are stored in this area. The site is open to all kinds of climatic and surface effects since uncontrolled disposal of waste is applied in the area. Also, this site takes place in the direction of rainfall and flow of surface waters because of the hydrological basin in which it is. This study was aimed at determining environmental factors stemming from this site; and investigating its effects on the environment. As a result of samplings and investigations carried out, it was revealed that there appeared environmental impacts of this site on the underground water; therefore, necessary suggestions were proposed.
