Botanical excursion of Handel-Mazzetti 1882-1940 to Trabzon Turkey and its environs in 1907
Avusturyalı botanikçi Handel-Mazzetti 1907 yılında Trabzon ve çevresine bir botanik gezisi yapar. Beraberinde jeolog Franz Kossmat ve ekibin lideri zoolog K. R. von Blumencron da vardır ve gezinin asıl amacı Trabzon çevresindeki madenleri araştırmaktır. Ekiplerine İstanbul’da rehber/tercüman olarak Marc Bojovitch de katılır. Handel-Mazzetti bu gezi için Viyana’dan 27 Haziran’da ayrılır ve 14 Ağustos’ta zengin bir bitki koleksiyonuyla beraber geri döner. Gezisine İstanbul’da başlayan Handel-Mazzetti, Ereğli, Sinop ve Samsun’a uğradıktan sonra Trabzon’a geçer. Ziyaretinin neredeyse tamamını günümüz Trabzon ve Giresun illerinde çalışma yaparak geçirir. Dönüş yolunda Ordu’ya uğrar ve buradan İstanbul’a geçerek ziyaretini sonlandırır. Bu makalede Handel-Mazzetti’nin ziyaret etmiş olduğu yerlere ve botanik koleksiyonuna dair bilgiler sunulmuştur.

Botanical excursion of Handel-Mazzetti 1882-1940 to Trabzon Turkey and its environs in 1907
Austrian botanist Handel-Mazzetti made a botanical excursion to Trabzon and its neighborhood in 1907. In his visit he was together with geologist Franz Kossmat and zoologist K. R. von Blumencron who was the leader of the group. Main purpose of the excursion was to investigate the mines around Trabzon. In Istanbul Marc Bojovitch joins the group as dragoman. Handel-Mazzetti left Vienna on June 27 and returned on August 14 with a rich botanical collection. He started his journey in İstanbul and visited Ereğli, Sinop and Samsun on the way to Trabzon. He spent nearly all of his time by doing research in today’s provinces of Trabzon and Giresun. On his return journey to İstanbul he visited and collected plants in Ordu. In this article information is given about the places Handel-Mazzetti visited and about his botanical collections
