Bitkisel yağ kaynağı ve çeşitli yan ürünleri ile endüstri bitkisi,ihtiva ettiği yüksek protein ile beslenmede ve bir baklagil ö'zelliğinesahip bulunmasiyle ekim nöbetinde istisnai öneme sahip bulunan, soyanın Doğu Anadoluda gelişme imkanlarım araştırmak üzere, Erzurum, Erzincan, Elazığ ve Iğdır'da yapılan verim denemeleri sonunda, Erzurumun gerek yıllık sıcaklık toplamı ve gerek vegetasyon peryodu, verimi sımrlamış, buna rağmen Erzincan, Eıazığ ve Iğdır'da bu, bitkilerin daha rahatlıkla yetişebUeceği kanaatı hasıl olmuştur. Bu bakımdan denemeye alınan Amsoy, Harosoy, Shelby, Clare, Grant veChippewa çeşitleri üzerinde durulması faydalı görülmektedir.SUMMARYAn Investigatiol1 on the Growingof Soybean in Eastern AnatoliaThe soybean is now the mostimprortant oilseed crop in the world.Its primary products, soybean oiland protein, rich soyhean meal, arethe largest source of supply of vegetableproteins and vegetable oiis.Soybean variety trials has beenintial1y investigated on mineral soilsin 1966. The experiment was locatednear number four weıı at the land ofAtaturk University farm-Erzurum. Tenvarieties of soybean was obatainedfrom America, five varieties from theseed-breeding station in Samsun, andfive varieities from the Faculty ofAgriculture in Ankara.In order to cond uct the yieldtests in Erzurum, Elazığ, Erzİncanand Iğdır in i 967 and 1968, twelve varietiesof soybean has been introducedfrom tbe University of Nebraska.Early maturing vanetıes wereplanted in Erzurum and Iate maturingin Iğdır, Erzincan and Elazığ.At the end of the experiments,the yield of soybean varieties whichwere planted in Erzurum, have been limitedby the factors of total heatunite, short growing season and firstkilling frost.. However the elimaticalcondition of Er:zincan, Elazığ and Iğdırwere more suitable for growingof soybean than Erzurum.According to the two year reusu1ts,in Erzurum variety G ran d, inErzincan, varieties Amsoy, Horrosoy63 and Shalby, in Elazığ, the varietiesHararsoy 63, Clark and Lee; ın Iğdır,the varıetıes elark 63, Grant,Lee and shelby have been foundout as the most suitable and the mostprodutctive varieties.The highest yield was obtained fromthe variety Amsoy (315.35 Kg/Dk.)an the lowest yield from the varietyChippewa 64. in Erzincan in 1967.In Elazığ, the higest yield wasobtained from Harrasoy (I65.Kg/Dk.)andthe lowest yield was taken from Clark63 (89.00 Kg/Dk). In Erzurum, thehigest yield was obtained from Grant(66.40 Kg/Dk.) and the lowest yield wastaken from Lincoln (6.95 Kg/Dk.).in the year of 1968, the total yieldof soybeon was generaUy lower thanfrom that of 1967.
