Katherine Mansfield’ın Bazı Öykülerinde Modernist Kısa Hikâye Tekniklerinin Yansımaları

Yirminci yüzyıl edebiyat ve sanat tartışmalarında adından sıkça bahsettiren ‘Modernizm’ dönemin farklı yönde şekillenmesinde önemli bir pay sahibidir. Özellikle I. Dünya Savaşı sonrasında etkisini hissettiren bu akım, batı dünyasına ait sanat ve kültür kavramlarından kopuş anlamına gelmektedir. Dönemli önemli kısa hikâye yazarlarından bir tanesi olan Katherine Mansfield, akıma ait birçok çarpıcı özelliği eserlerine aktarmış, bu alanda akımın önemli bir temsilcisi haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada Katherine Mansfield’ın bazı öykülerinde modernist kısa hikâye teknikleri incelenmiş olup yazarın bu bağlamda öne çıkan tutumları üzerinde durulmuştur

‘Modernism’ which had its name frequently mentioned in the literary and artistic debates of the 20th century had significant influence upon the embodiment of the period in a different way. Having become influential especially after the World War I, this movement means disengagement from the western concepts of art and culture. One of the significant short story writers of the period, Katherine Mansfield extracted to her works various striking characteristics of the period, and became an important representative of the movement.In this study, modernist short story techniques in some of Katherine Mansfield’s works have been analyzed and author’s attitudes within that concept have been elaborated.
