Turizm Araştırmalarının Olgunlaşması: Bir İçerik Analizinden Bulgu

Bu makale, turizm araştırmaları alanının içerisinden ve dışından yapılan alıntıları karşılaştırmaktadır. İçerik için, Annals of Tourism Research dergisinden (1-30. ciltler arası) alman ve 1254 adet referans girdisinden sistematik ve tabakalı bir örneklem kullanılmıştır. Turizm araştırmalarında kullanılan alan içi alıntıların fre ve eğilimini alan dışı alıntılarla karşılaştırmak amacıyla, veriler altı adet 5 yıllık dönem halinde gruplandırı Nudist Nvivo adlı program yardımıyla örneklemin odaklı kodlaması, beş analitik birim (yazar, başlık, yayın, < alan/bilimdalı) kullanılarak, üç genel kategori altında (turizm, turizm ile ilişkili ve turizm dışı) gerçekleştir Araştırmada, rekreasyon, boş zaman ve ağırlama gibi turizmle ilişkili kaynaklardan yapılan alıntıların, yıll sinde sürekli bir düşüş gösterdiği ve şu anda tüm analitik birimler boyunca %7 gibi bir orana gerilediği görül Öte yandan turizm alanından ve turizm dışı alanlardan yapılan alıntıların birbirine oranı, yazara göre %54 başlığa göre %56'ya %37, yayına göre %41'e %51, dergiye göre %44'e %49 ve bilimdalına göre ise %2Î olarak belirlenmiştir. Tek bir derginin kullanılmış olmasının getirebileceği sınırlamalara rağmen, seçile aracı için belirlenmiş olan alıntı modellerinin, turizmin bir bilimdalı olarak olgunlaşma sürecine ışık tuta düşünülmektedir.
