Kasvetli İlişkiler, Charles Dickens’ın Kasvetli Ev roma- nında hukuk ve hukukun temas ettiği toplumsal sınıf- lar arasındaki ilişkiyi değerlendirmeye, bu bağlamda da Dickens’ın edebiyat kuramındaki yerini gözden geçirmeye yönelmiş bir çalışmadır. Hukuk ve Edebiyat çalışmalarında tarihselliğin yerinin altını çizerek; Vik- toryen dönem toplumu, hukuk sistemi ve hukukçuları- nı değerlendiren bu çalışma Dickens’ın üretiminin bu dönemi yansıtmak bakımından değerini vurgulayarak toplumcu edebiyat eleştirisi sularına da girer. Çalışma- nın sonucu olarak dönem hukukunun toplumsal sınıf- ların eşitsizliğine olan katkısının bulgulanmasının ya- nısıra yazarın genel algıda yarattığı, toplumsala ilişkin naif düşüncelere sahip anlatıcı imgesinin yetersizliği de saptanmaktadır. evaluate Victorian society, its legal system and lawyers. Gloomy relations: Literature, class and law

This article aims at evaluating law and the social clas- ses it affects and the network of relations between them in the Bleak House of Charles Dickens. It also reviews the position of Dickens in literary theory. Underlining the importance of historical approach in Law and Lite- rature studies, the article uses the tools of socialist lite- rary criticism to imply the novelist’s role to reflect and evaluate Victorian society, its legal system and lawyers. As for the outcome, not only the negative effects of the mentioned era’s legal system on the social inequality is detected but also, the inadequacy of seeing Dickens as a naïve thinker when it comes to social issues.
