RESPONSES OF GRAIN AND STRAW YIELDS OF WINTER WHEAT (Cv. Tajan) TO LIMITED IRRIGATION IN SEMI-ARID ENVIRONMENT

Öz This study was conducted to investigate responses of winter wheat (cv. Tajan) production to limited irrigation under semi-arid environment. Four treatments comprising irrigation at growth stages of stem elongation (I1), I1+ flowering (I2), I2 + soft dought (I3) and I3 + hard dough (I4). All plots were uniformly irrigated after sowing. Results revealed the applying treatments of I3 and I4 produced similar 1000-grain weight (TGW), harvest index(HI), grain (GY), biological (BY) and straw (SY) yields. The TGW ranged from 35.3 to 41.2 g, HI ranged from 0.45 to 0.51. The grain yield were from 5366 to 6313 kg ha-1, and straw yield were from 5800 to 7058 kg ha-1. Biological yield is evidently affected by grain and straw yields and ranged from11170 to 13370 kg ha-1. The findings showed that To obtain optimum production for wheat cv. Tajan in Moghan and similar climate condition, it is recommended to irrigate this crop with four events (I3). In this study several models were worked out to predict grain, straw and biological yields as a function of applied water in a semi-arid environment.
