Bulgular: Katılımcıların %56.5'i hemşirelik bölümü öğrencisi, yaş ortalaması 21.67±1.93 olup, %85.3'ü kadındır. Öğrencilerin %56.8'i meslektaş şiddetine maruz kaldığını, %51.9'u serviste çalışan hemşire ve ebeler tarafından şiddet uygulandığını belirtmiştir. %38.3'ü iğneleyici sözlere maruz kaldığını, %37.5'i çalışmalarının görmezden gelindiğini ifade etmiştir. Öğrencilerin %38'i olayı arkadaşıyla/önem verdiği birisiyle paylaştığını belirtmiştir.

Nursing and Midwifery Students' Exposure to Corker Violence in Practice Settings

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the facts for nursing and midwifery students who were exposed to coworker violence in practice settings and the factors related with coworker violence. Method: The sampling of this descriptive study comprised of 368 second, third and fourth year undergraduate nursing and midwifery students attending to a health college in Turkey and doing internship during 2012-13 academic year. The data of the study were collected using an information form which was developed by the researchers after a review of relevant literature. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics (percentage, mean) and chi-square test. Result: 56.5% of the students were from nursing department, the average age was 21.67±1.93, and 85.3% were female. 56.8% of the students reported that they were exposed to coworker violence, and 51.9% expressed that the violence came from nurses or midwives working in the service. 38.3% of the students stated that they were exposed to sarcastic remarks, while 37.5% said that their efforts were ignored. 38.0% of the students shared the incident with a peer or a close friend. It was determined in this study that midwifery students were exposed to coworker violence more than nursing students (p=.000). Conclusion: It was determined that most students were exposed to coworker violence in practice settings, and that these acts of violence were frequently perpetrated by nurses or midwives working in services.
