Black rot of crucifers (Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris) and sources of resistance

Brassica comprise economically important plant species worldwide. These species are mainly grown as vegetable and oil crops and are important nutrition sources for humans. Black rot is caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris and it causes disease on all cruciferous plants in the world. It is a destructive disease of crucifers and could cause important yield and qualtiy losses. Information was given for the description of the disease, the disease symptoms, factors influencing pathogenicity of bacteria, methods of the disease control, sources of host plant resistance and nature of resistance found in different Brassica species.
