The Image of Jerusalem in Modern Algerian Poetry
Algerian poetry has always been interested
in the question of Palestine in general and the sanctity of Jerusalem in
particular ever since the occupation. The French colonialism of Algeria bring
the Algerian people closer to the struggles of the Palestinian people. As a
result, Algerian poets have written extensively in their poems abouth
Jerusalem. Such Algerian poems abouth Jerusalem are the focus of this study.
Algerian poets express their emetions for the bloodshed that befalls
Palestinians, and they call for unity to achieve freedom and liberation from
the colonizer, a dream that combines both of the Algerians and Palestinians.
