Retrorektal dermoid kist: Olgu sunumu
Retrorectal dermoid cyst: Case report
Retrorectal cysts are developmental cysts, and according to their origin and histopathological features, they are classified as dermoid cysts, rectal duplication cysts and cystic hamartomas (tailgut cysts). Although dermoid cysts have mostly ovarian localization, they can be seen in me - diastinal, retroperitoneal, and rarely, retrorectal localizations. Although retrorectal cysts are usually asymptomatic, they might cause problems such as rectal fullness, defecation disorders, abdominal pain, and dyspareunia. They are incidentally diagnosed mostly on routine pel- vic examinations and with imaging methods. Though they are usually benign lesions, after the diagnosis, they should be surgically removed because of the risks of malignant transformation and infection. In this article, we examined the diagnosis and treatment of a retrorectal der- moid cyst, which was discovered during the routine pelvic examination and surgically removed from an adult female patient.
