A rare complication of ascides: umblical hernia complicated by spontaneous fistula
Ascites is one important factor that increases mortality and predicts decompensation in patients with cirrhosis. Umbilical hernia often develops in ascitic patients. Mortal complications may be seen in cirrhotic patients with umbilical hernia. Therefore, ascitic patients with umbilical hernia should be followed closely; umbilical hernias should be treated due to mortal complications such as spontaneous rupture or fistula. In this article, a case of a cirrhotic patient with ascites is reported and a review of the literature on this topic is presented.
