Comparison of Fuel Consumption and Braking Force at Different Braking Pressures in Vehicles
Braking in vehicles can be in the form of continuous braking in cases such as downhill descent, or in the form of push-pulls of different duration depending on the traffic course. Some drivers continue to depress the accelerator pedal when approaching an obstacle, such as a traffic light, and then braking firmly. All these situations adversely affect fuel economy. In this study, the brake tester was applied to the brake pedal every 20 seconds, lasting 120 seconds at 4, 5, 6 and 7 bar braking system pressures in a vehicle with 3000 rpm 4th gear. During the experiment, braking forces and fuel consumption were recorded and compared. The braking force values of the wheels increased due to the increase in brake pressure values. Fuel consumption values also increased due to the increase in braking forces. During the experiment, the engine speed was kept constant at 3000 rpm. With braking, there has also been an increase in fuel consumption due to constant engine speed.
