Orthondontic Treatment of a Severe class-III Malocclusion Without Surgery: Case Report

To present a case with severe skeletal and dental Class-III treated with orthodontic approach. The patient was a female of 17 years of ageand she was in Ru stage of growth period.According to the clinical examinations she hadretrusive upper lip, concave soft tissue profile.The patient had skeletal and dental Cl-III relationship, circular crossbite, negative overjet,protrusive upper, retrusive lower incisors. Archlength discrepancies in upper and lower archeswere 15 and 10 mm respectively. The patientrefused the orthognathic surgery procedure, soit was decided to camouflage her problemorthodontically. A bonded expansion appliance was used to achieve slow expansion inmaxilla. After active expansion for 8 months,lower 1.premolars were extracted and fixedorthodontic appliances were applied. Upperprotrusion arches were used after levelling andalignment of the upper teeth. The treatment lasted 2 years and 3 months. Hawley appliance formaxilla and 5-5 fixed retainer for mandibulaare still being used. Increase in ANB, mandibular posterior rotation, protrusion and proclination of upper incisors were achieved. Idealoverjet and overbite relationship wereobtained. At the end of the orthodontic treatment, an acceptable occlusion and soft tissueprofile were obtained
